Do You Want a Storybook Marriage?

Do You Want a Storybook Marriage?

Ever wished you had a storybook marriage? Careful what you wish for because you may just get it. In fact you may be living in it now, if you stop and think about it.

As I recall Cinderella was only one chapter in a book of fairy tales when I was reading to my kids years ago. And it seemed her life wasn’t exactly easy either when the story began. She had a mean step mother and mean older step sisters.

She had to do every one else’s chores plus her own. Still want a storybook marriage? Oh, it does get better though. You see, she had three things working in her favor. One of them was a fairy godmother. I’m sure you have one of those too. Don’t you?

Well, actually you don’t need one if you have the other two things working in your favor. One of which was opportunity and that’s really all the fairy godmother gave her that was lasting. The clothes, the fancy carriage, the driver and all the other things were just temporary until midnight.

It was really all up to Cinderella to take advantage of the opportunity that was given her. What do you think would have happened if she would have told the fairy godmother to get lost because she was just too tired or had some other excuse? It might have had a different ending wouldn’t it?

If that’s how your storybook marriage has been going maybe it’s time to add a new chapter. I’ll even give you some pointers on how it should go to get you started.

As with most any storybook marriage they usually start off with once upon a time and end with and they lived happily ever after. Now you’re going to have to work with me here on this.

We have the beginning and the end already. All we’re missing now is the third thing that was working in Cinderella’s favor and you’ll be able to fill in the middle.

But its bed time now so, we’ll work on your storybook marriage later.

Good night.

Oh, so, we meet again! Sorry, wrong story. Hope you had a good nights sleep and ready to continue with your storybook marriage. Good let’s go.

The thing you have to remember is you are the author here and it will end up however you choose it to. In other words you are in control here. I’m not saying it will be easy but, it’s really up to you how this story will end up.

Can I be Frank with you here? Good! Thanks! But my real name is Chris. Anyway, if I can be Frank with you here, if your story doesn’t end up the way you want it to. You won’t be looking for me to string up.

Oh, don’t be so serious life is only as fun as you make it. I know that wasn’t for you but, just had to say it anyway.

Do you want to know the third thing that was working in Cinderella’s favor? Let me give you a hint. It even worked for Snow White and all the other gals and worked for all the princes and knights in shinning armor too.

Ok, I’ll admit that was a pretty vague hint. So, let me spell it out for you. It was a positive attitude. That’s right. Just think about it for a minute. Of all the storybook marriages you can think of how many of the couples were negative?

When the prince came looking for Cinderella with the glass slipper did he find her screaming at her step mother or lazy step sisters for making her work? No!

When Snow White was doing all the cooking and cleaning for those 7 vertical challenged fellows was she complaining? No. (I’m trying to be politically correct but, it’s not easy).

When the knights in shinning armor or any princes’ came looking for their mate did they come cussing, ranting or raving? No. Do you want to know why? Because, these storybook marriages were written to appeal to kids, and kids aren’t dumb.

If these stories were all negative kids wouldn’t want to hear them over and over again. They would just watch the news on TV with you.

These stories were written with some common threads in them. The all start off in a vague time and place so you can use your own imagination. The girl is usually in a bad situation with people around her wanting to do her harm or take advantage or her.

Being the good girl that she is she does whatever is asked of her and keeps a positive attitude the whole time. And then one day a knight in shinning armor or a prince comes and takes her away from it all.THE END

Not so fast, THE BEGINNING. That was just chapter one. Who wants to live a one chapter life? Who wants to die young and leave a good looking corpse? It’s too late for me now so, I’ll just have to hang around and bug you until they throw the dirt in my face.

Maybe you’re in the middle of chapter two and your storybook marriage isn’t going the way of the happily ever after life that you read about as a kid.

Apparently the honeymoon is over or you wouldn’t be here. But, this is your storybook marriage and you are the author of it, remember? Are you ready to take control and write the next chapter?

What do you mean not really? Oh, I understand. You’re unsure of what to do next. Well don’t feel alone there because you’re not, not by a long shot. That’s the reason my friend Amy wrote a book called Save My Marriage Today.

Her e-book is full of unique methods that are easy-to-follow and covers any situation that you could possibly have. Here are just a few of the things she covers.

  • unresolved conflicts
  • extra-marital affairs
  • lack of intimacy
  • excessive fighting
  • ineffective or not enough communication
  • not enough quality time for busy schedules
  • a suffocating partner
  • children issues
  • trial separations
  • and many more complex and difficult situations

The way I see it is you have about four choices if you’re having marriage problems.

  1. You can keep doing what you are doing now. How’s that working for you?
  2. Find a marriage counselor and drag your mate to the appointments. Good luck with that!
  3. Find a good lawyer and file for divorce. Not recommended. It costs way more than just money.
  4. Down load Amy’s e-book today and finish writing your storybook marriage the way you want it to end.
